About Falling Blocks

Falling blocks is one of the best-loved brain games of all time. Colorful pieces made of four squares drop from the top one after another, and you slide and turn them so they fit together at the bottom of the well. As soon as you complete a row with no gaps, it flashes, disappears and gives you points.

There are 7 different shapes: the long bar, the square, the T, the two zigzags and the two L shapes. Every 10 rows you clear takes you up a level and the pieces fall a little faster. Clear 4 rows at once with the long bar for the biggest score of all.

This block puzzle trains you to think about shapes and space, plan ahead and react quickly. It runs on any computer, even an old one, and on phones and tablets with touch. There's nothing to download, no sign-up, and your best score is saved on your device.

How to play

  1. Press “Start” and the first piece starts falling from the top.
  2. Move the piece left and right with the arrow keys or by dragging on the screen.
  3. Turn it with the up arrow or a tap on the board until it fits the gap.
  4. Watch the see-through shadow at the bottom to know where it will land, and press Space to drop it straight there.
  5. Fill complete rows to clear them, and don't let the blocks pile up to the top.

  • Look at the piece in the “Next” box and decide where it goes before it arrives.
  • Keep the top of your stack flat, without deep holes.

  • When a piece touches down you still have a moment to slide it left or right before it locks.
